I've taken a pet first aid course and own books on pet first aid already. I bought this because I was looking for a quick reference guide that was small enough to keep in my pet first aid kit. I just wanted basic instructions for common first aid situations and I wanted to be able to quickly to flip to the page I need in an emergency. The info in the book is good, but there's a lot more info than I was expecting for a pocket guide and much of the info is on topics other than emergency care. I also don't like how the tabs are organized; First Aid is all just one tab and you have to go through every page to find the info for the condition you're trying to treat. It would be better to have tabs like CPR, Choking, Wounds, etc, so you can easily flip to the first aid info that you need in an emergency.

I was looking for a small, packable, quick simple book to keep in my "go bag" for emergency evacuation and preparedness. I was impressed. I am a medical person, but not a vet. The illustrations were clear, the tabs make it easy to find in a true emergency. Some reviewers felt it wasn't thorough or comprehensive enough. In an emergency, simplicity is key. People don't have to study something. It is not intended to be a thorough discussion of pet first aid. There are large volume books available for people interested in learning more about pet health and anatomy. For an emergency booklet, that present the information in easy to understand and efficient manner, in a well organized format, this fits the bill. I just wish they would update it again. This edition (2011) is quite long ago!

I got this as an addition to our pet/human emergency supplies because in an emergency this is a GOD send! At the dog park, someone's dog looked like it had the beginnings of heat stroke, I ran to the car and got the Adventure Medical Kits Adventure Dog Series Me & My Dog Canine First Aid Kit from the car. I was so happy to find this guide tucked right on top, I flipped to the right section and this really saved the day! The other dog owner was super thankful, other dog owners impressed, husband proud and beaming!

A great reference guide for common emergency. I wanted something just in case the unthinkable happens to allow me to covert my skills as a paramedic and equipment I keep in my personal jump bag, to be able to stabilize fury friends in order to get them to definitive care. This pocket guide does not go into great detail about things which it shouldn't it is a quick reference tool. If you want more information on things you should be buying books that are more like text books or taking courses.

Added to my disaster preparedness kit and it's got some good information that can be looked up quickly. The information is better as a guide to know what emergency items to keep in your kit, but doesn't seem useful enough to help at a time of emergency. In other words, read it before an emergency, get the necessary items to have on hand should something happen to your furry friend but don't expect to use it at the time of an emergency.See the photos for examples of the information within.

I'm a pet CPR/first aid instructor. I like this guide because it is compact and covers not just dogs and cats. However some of the important info is not covered in this guide. Also some info is too general.

Good emergency information for traveling with my dogs. Keep in camper just in case.

My partner is an animal lover of the best kind. This was a great stocking stuffer this holiday. We both learned quite a few tips and tricks in order to better help our pup in case of emergencies. It is very entry level and could have more information that isn't so basic.
