This is the second book to Friends Like These. This one is a Novella so very short and sweet. The first person style of writing continues in this book, the story based on Marie's day to day life and her quirky friends from Fat Club. I feel like I know these characters, they are so well written and I love all of them. I would recommend reading the first book but if you haven't you still understand how this group came together and you can move through the book as if you read the first one, you just miss out on the fun of the first book!
Christmas is upon Marie and she be happy and overjoyed with all that she has to be thankful for this holiday season - Brian (her fiance) and her Fat Club friends (you were learn more about that funny tale as you read!) While Marie was hoping for a quiet Christmas in with Brian, her friends had other plans! They were all coming to her place and they have special request for what the holiday MUST HAVE.So not only does she have that to look forward to planning, but her friends, family and even Brian will not let the wedding progress at her pace, they harass her about it daily!Can she make this the Christmas to remember?Can she please everyone and have the wedding they will never forget?Or will she get cold feet?Only time will tell!
Christmas With Friends: A Novella (Friends Like...is about Marie and her fiancée, Brian. The story takes place during the Christmas holidays, thus the title of the story. But, it could have had a different title and about any time of the year. Marie admits that Brian is good looking, nice to her, and has money, but she doesn't want to discuss wedding plans or a date for the wedding. This takes up most of the story line throughout the book. It's not until the end that you find out why she's so hesitant about wedding plans. The holiday festivities are mostly friends of Marie and Brian's, that include a young boy Callum, whose mother is a bartender, and leaves him alone a lot. So Marie's friends try to make sure his holidays are cheerful. The story was okay, but nothing to motivate me to finish it in one sitting.
Book seemed a bit rushed and there were several typos. There were some funny bits. But because it just basically covers the day before Christmas, Christmas eve and the day after the story seemed to drag a bit. There were several chapters just covering the Christmas dinner alone. Just wasn't as zippy as book one but not terrible either.
I don’t understand binge watching TV but I sure do understand binge reading! I love getting into a series that I enjoy and I can finish one and immediately start the next one. I already bought #3. I’m sure it will fly by this weekend.
Continuation of a quirky story. Can be read alone. Good poolside or beach read. The main character is likable and the friends are entertaining. Got the 1st book for free but I bought the 2nd book because I wanted to see what happens next .
Downloaded this after reading the first in the series and read almost all of it the first evening. Just like the first one, this one was engaging, entertaining, and an easy read.
Fun read, 2nd book in series, love the characters, just ordered book 3.
