WOW! Anyone who enjoys apples should have this book in their home. One fabulous recipe after another, following an initial section with beautiful photos of beautiful apples and descriptions. There are apple recipes for every occasion you could imagine, sectioned perfectly. Amazing combinations of ingredients. And, I found some lovely rare recipes in here, along with one for some muffins I used to be able to get years ago and was never able to find again once that source was gone. I was thrilled to encounter that recipe; like reuniting with a long lost wonderful friend! This is also a cookbook that, when one isn't having a go with one of these fabulous recipes, can simply be browsed through and enjoyed. Now I have to stop writing this review, and stock up on apples!

This is one of the finest hardcover values I have seen in years. Not only are their classic apple recipes, along with some newer ones, but the first portion of the book has a photographic series of all the apples you might find in the USA. Amazing resource. Not only does my daughter enjoy it but the grandkids love books and I don't think they ever saw so many different types of apples. If you know someone that bakes pies or wants to know about baking apple pie then this is a great gift. I'm thinking of getting a copy for personal use.

This is a great cookbook, with lots of good recipes and history. I have enjoyed reading it just for its history of apples (their growth, how they spread, and when they were discovered) and the pictures with the different apple varieties and their descriptions. As apple season finishes where I live, I am excited to try a number of these recipes, just like last season. The pork apple pie with cheddar-sage crust is a family favorite.

As someone who has gradually become and apple fanatic, this was great. The layout was gorgeous, so it's good coffee table book, but also very functional. The descriptions are just the right length. The recipes are great. As a vegetarian, there are lots of meat recipes, but still plenty of good vegetarian ones. My favorites are the baked apples and the dutch babies. The description and organization of apples is very useful and as a result I have been able to try out a few specialty varieties not available in grocery stores.If you like apples in any capacity you're sure to find something useful in this book.

Enjoy learning about the various apple varieties, their uses and I'm eager to try all the delicious recipes found in the Apple Lover's Cookbook.....

I first heard about this book while watching Boston news one morning. When the author showed a jar of apple pickles, I was intrigued. I mean really, who has heard of apple pickles? Ordering this book was a brilliant move. The recipes within are creative and yummy. What takes the guess work out of using the correct apple for the correct recipe are the suggestions on the same page. That makes perfect sense and why other writers haven't done the same is beyond me. Anyhow, I have learned a tremendous amount about apples that are heirloom varieties. Great book!!!!!!!

I love apples & this book explains everything you need to know. Which ones you can cook with in what kind of recipe to use, which ones that are great to eat...etc...

everthing you want to know about cooking with apples. Excellent descriptions of varieties and their characteristics, seasons available, and best uses for each type. Every recipe includes info on types of apples to use for best result. Even the most complicated recipes have easy to follow directions. And the illustrations are gorgeous.
